Our new greenhouse, all ready for planting (well, once we get the door built and on). The materials came from a fine gent that posted on the community classified list, offering up a 12’X6’ window, which served just perfectly for the front of the structure, as seen here. When we got up to his property and told him our plan, he graciously guided us around the front of his house and offered us the windows removed from his sun room some time before. There was enough double pane, tempered glass to complete the project with materials to spare. The rough cut cedar came from a local sawmill here on island. As it stands, we have paid 300 bucks and a bit of labor and fuel for the most badass greenhouse we could ask for. Talk about abundance! Many thanks to our wonderful friends for helping design and installing it.
We’re putting tonnes of energy into making our yard as sustaining and beautiful as we can. In a years time it’ll be a lil’ oasis heaving with fresh produce. Other plans include installations such as bars for acrobatic training, a deck that will serve as a stage for music and other performance arts and perhaps another greenhouse or shop/studio space.
